Flashback Friday - K.R.E.A.M.

Hey everyone!

Welcome to Flashback Friday, where I revisit old armies I have painted from the past.  I have painted thousands of models and who knows how many huge armies on commission, and each one holds a special place in my heart.  A little sweat, a lot of love, and some collaboration with another person and who knows what you can create!  I enjoy looking back every once in a while at the photos and remembering the joys and struggles, the hard work and the pure enjoyment of making someone's vision a reality. But enough of that emotional stuff, let's get on with it! I miss you, baby!

The army I am reminiscing over this time around is "K.R.E.A.M." (Krump Rulez Evertin' Aroun' Me) an army I did for a regular customer earlier in 2013, first for an Adepticon Kill Team 500 points (pictured above) and then later rounded out to a huge Apocalypse sized army shown below.

The theme of the army is Orks meets Wu Tang, Insance Clown Posse, and a little Sweet Tooth! The customer wanted something really silly for this army, no holds barred goofiness, as is fitting for Orks.

Starting off with the largest model in the collection, a Forge World Squiggoth! It's a pretty impressive model and was a lot of fun to paint.  The howdah offered a lot of open space for some silliness and random Ork crew.

Next up - the ice cream trukks!  These are a favorite in the army.  These were in the original Kill Team batch and are designed to remind one of Sweet Tooth from Twisted Metal.  They are based around Forge World trukks with a lot of plasticard and conversion.

21 Grot Tanks!  Who cares if you can't hit the broad side of a Squiggoth, and fall apart to the rumble of your own Waagh if you have this many?

The army features a lot of "traditional" Ork vehicles as well, although there is a lot of personalization in the assembly by the customer and freehand on my part.  Have to have graffiti!

Enough artillery that it doesn't matter if they miss!

We decided to go with yellow for the MANs to set them apart as a bit more elite, and to visually break up the army a bit much like the cream.

A selection of Boyz from the army.  Primarily aftermarket bits, the hat heads secure the ice cream man theme, and the face paint for a little bit of ICP!

Warboss!  I like to imagine he also plays a little ice cream truck song as he whistles to himself and spins his saw blade into battle...

Hope you enjoyed my walk down memory laneKeep up with my latest work on Facebook if you like!
